Fame, fortune, adoration, admiration—these are all things that most people, if they’re honest, would like to have. We want to be respected, and seen as important. This is a totally normal condition of the human heart.

We seem to see this desire even more with each younger generation, and now, in a world filled with social media platforms, fame can actually feel possible. Anything can happen, especially when you’re young.

But even if you don’t want fame or fortune, I think there is something underneath those desires that we all understand: we want to be seen and heard. We want to be recognized.

We want someone to understand us. We want to be known. In fact, so many relationships begin to fall apart when we no longer feel seen, heard, or understood by the other person.

There is something inside of us that longs for someone to smile when we walk into the room. We want someone’s face to light up simply because we are there.

What’s so wonderful is that there truly is Someone who is always glad you walked into the room.

God, the Creator of the universe is always glad to see you and recognizes you.

You don’t have to become famous enough to get His attention. You don’t have to accomplish something extraordinary so He will notice me. I don’t have to gather followers, earn admiration, or make myself important enough to be seen.

You already have His attention.

So, today if you feel less than, or not enough, that is a lie. You are loved beyond measure and wanted.

Jesus said, “Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (Luke 12:7)

You are fully known, deeply loved, and joyfully wanted by the One who created you. The God of the universe recognizes you—and He delights in calling you His own.
