You Are God’s Favorite

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

I know—it’s hard to imagine. But truly, all of us can be God’s favorite. It really does boggle the mind, but we are finite, and the love of God is infinite and simply undefinable. We can measure it in small ways, in things that speak to us personally, but in reality, it is beyond definition.

When we think of the greatest love our hearts have ever known—whether for a parent, a spouse, a lover, a friend, or a child—even the best of those loves comes up radically short of the depth, the height, the width, and the length of the love of God (Ephesians 3:18–19).

We get a glimpse of this kind of love in Scripture when God says to Abraham, “Now I know that you love Me, because you were willing to sacrifice your son, your only son—the one you love.” And in the same way, we can look at God and see how much He loves us: He gave His only Son, the Son He loved, for us.

Another beautiful picture of God’s love is found in how He expressed it toward Jesus while He was here on earth—before the cross, before the resurrection, before everything. Physically, at the lowest point of Israel, when Jesus was being baptized, God said, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” And later, when Jesus stood at the tallest place in the nation, on the mountain of transfiguration, God spoke out loud again and said, “This is My beloved Son, whom I love. Listen to Him.”

At His baptism, Jesus hadn’t performed miracles yet. He hadn’t gone to the cross yet. He hadn’t proven anything yet. And still, the Father called Him beloved. That tells us something important: God’s love isn’t earned—it’s present without stipulation. And the same love the Father has for the Son is the love He pours out on us. Not because we’ve done enough—we never could . Not because we’ve gotten it all right—we never will. But because, through Christ, we are His.

If you don’t feel that today, it’s alright, we don’t walk by feelingsThat’s why you can say, without arrogance and without fear, “I am God’s favorite.” And so can the person next to you. His love isn’t divided. It isn’t rationed. It’s endless, personal, and fully yours.
